We're back online!

After a few day's downtime we're back online. This week will be working to move everything over to some more stable servers. Apologies to anyone who was affected by this setback.

As always, thanks for using Give the OK!

Lean Startup Challenge Entry

We're posting today as part of an entry for a contest with AppSumo and their Lean Startup Challenge

First of all, for all the judges reading this, Give the OK! is the easiest online feedback and approval software out there. Say adios to convoluted email threads, complicated proofing systems and tools your clients hate using anyway.

With GTO you just upload your proof, share the link and get the OK.

Lean-ability

As the Franchize Boyz said, "Lean wit it Rock wit it"

Self funded. No investors. No Debt.

Give the OK! is about as lean as a they get. Currently the team is scattered literally from the West Coast all the way East, and a few stops in the middle.

With Getting Real in one hand and Pivotal Tracker in the other we cannot wait to kick it into high gear with the rest of the Lean Startup Bundle

But why are we writing this shameless post to try and get in bed with the AppSumo judges?

Couple of reasons:

1. We believe Give the OK! can grow to be the #1 way designers (and others) share and approve files with their clients. We have plans for mobile, different industry verticals, etc. Crushing it as a winner of the Lean Challenge no doubt gives access to people, cash money and mentorship to get there.

2. We really are a bad ass team ready to take it up to the next notch. Our fearless reader, Russ Perry, has made a living helping people and building companies and this is his first software venture. He knows he's no Mark Zuckerberg (however, he is much more attractive) and the ability to develop relationships to move GTO into the commercial limelight is irresistible.

3. Give the OK! is a winning bet. We have a plan. We have software running. We have a vision. We just need the power up mushroom (read: cash and mentorship) to take things into the next level. If the judges and AppSumo want a success story a few months down the road, then Give the OK! is your Secretariat.

Closing Remarks

Have you ever worked with a designer only to have things get a little wonky with the approval or feedback process?

Are you a designer that hates conflict and wishes there was a better tool out there to use with your clients?

Do you know a designer who you think, "Damn, this is a great idea for them".

Choosing Give the OK! in the Lean Challenge Contest is like sticking up for your little brother at recess.

Help out all those designers and kind souls who just want to do their job and not get bogged down in the black hole of email approvals and feedback.

---

Note: To our readers and customers, whether we win or not, we've been a huge fan of AppSumo.com for some time and highly suggest you check them out for killer software deals.

A quick how-to with Give the OK!

Give the OK! is the simplest online (and soon to be feedback) tool there is.

The next time you need to send a proof to a client, simply:
  1. Head to givetheok.com
  2. Select your file to upload
  3. Share the link with your client, friend, mother, or co-worker
That's it!

Out of the gates, there's no signup needed – but if you're thinking about using this with multiple clients or wanting to upload more than one version, you probably should. The kicker is that you'll be the first to know about all the great new features!

Please use the "Feedback" tab or email us at anytime with suggestions or ideas.

Thanks!

We finalized the remaining stories over weekend for the the launch version over the weekend. Some of the added features:
  • Ability to determine a responsibly party for your proof if there's more than one client contact
  • Ability to sort proofs based on client, date created, proof status
  • Addition of comments when a proof is approved
In conjunction with some advertising going out next month we conjured up the headline that pretty much sums up Give the OK!:

The simplest online feedback and approval tool. Ever.

Developer Blog 8/24/10

This is the first of weekly developer related posts as we closer to launch.

Quick facts about GTO!
  • 100% web-based
  • Ruby on Rails platform
  • Using the Agile method of development
  • Three pricing tiers on launch (including a free one)
  • Built in Phoenix, AZ
We are finalizing up the private beta version of the software to launch early September. We've gotten some exciting feedback from some local designers and friends.

The office/command center is what we'd imagine a self-funded startup to be. A lot of crappy chairs, poor lighting and tons of coffee. Photos to come when we find a camera that's better than the yellow ones from an iPhone.
